Chiaroscuro- "Light-Dark"; Using Values () To demonstrate light and shadow on a 2 dimensional making seem more three dimensional. An example would be image 6.7 on page 156 on our book or figure 4.20 on page 93.
PS Alright I'm the first to comment! just happened to be at the right place at the right time.

Unity is a state of being one, and it brings or combines all parts into one. For example, in Matisse's "Memory of Oceania," some of the compositions are unified.
Proportion is the relationship between parts of a whole. For instance, the painting of Rene Magritte " Delusions of Greandeur 2" she shows proportion by having the different sizes on the body parts, but the top part is well proportioned because it is the correct size to go along with the breasts and the neckline and arms.
Symmetrical Balance is where you can draw an imaginary line down the art and each side corresponds to the other in size, shape, and placement. It is almost like a mirror image. There is an example of this on pg 125 in the text called "Deer's Skull with Pedernal" or visit this website for more examples http://www.imagekind.com/GalleryProfile.aspx?gid=225d2339-9bce-4c5a-a849-3a1930741df1
The term “scale” in art is described to be the size of a normal object to be exaggerated, too small or too big. For example "a tube of lipstick the size of a person to be place beside a person." In our book we also have image 5.18 on page 137, as a great example by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje Van Bruggen.
The term “analogous” refers to the combination of colors that are adjacent to one another on the color wheel, such as blue, blue-green, and green. Stephen Mueller’s “Madrugada 2,” uses an analogous color scheme that moves from blue through green to yellow.
Asymmetrical Balance: Twos dies that do not correspond to one another. In size, shape and placement. In the Book, PAge 129, we can see in the pict 5.10 Illustates some very general precepts about asymetrical or informal balance.
In Pablo Picasso "the actor" painting, the values used between orange and blue portrayed a huge role in bringing out the remaining colors in the painting.
Rhythm is based on repetition and motion. Shape tends to be a main aspect of rhythm. With rhythm (movement) it defines the principle of art that leads the viewer to sense action in a work or it can be the path for the viewer's eye.
MONOCHROMATIC is the use of one color in varying shades.
In paintings or pieces of art work there is something called emphasis, which is the part of the piece that catches your eye from the moment you look at the work. It is often but not always called the focal point of the piece. The subordination of a piece of art work is the non emphasized parts of the art that are made to almost not be noticed yet help the emphasized parts stand out even more.
