I liked the way that Arturo Herrara used layering to form different images. He was very ingenious to use different types of paper that were available to him at the time (construction paper, coloring book sheets, pages from books and magazines, decorative paper), as well as doing some of his own crayon drawings and finger paintings. Even his large, painted wall murals had the appearance of layering. He experiments with different things, such as putting his film canister into water or coffee, to create an unusual effect, which I found very interesting.

Mathew Ritchie seemed to be a very interesting artist. The main thing that I liked about him was that he used different techniques to create an art piece which gave his art a very clean finish. From paper to photograpy, and from digital imaging to welding, he made his masterpiece very modern and contemporary.

I liked Mathew Ritchie because I liked how he incorporated different techniques and different views to the same "drawing" for example. He went from paper, to using illustrator, to putting the design on the walls and actually expanding to the piece that could go on forever. I also loved that he took it even further and created a 3D piece out of metal.

I might not find Arturo Herrara’s art work appealing, but I do find the reason for him starting it convincing. He started off by say “the reason I started this type of art work was because it was cheap.”Scrap paper, magazine cut outs, wraping paper, and ect.
Arturo also made he's art work seem effortless but, watching the video was made it seem everything but that.

Mathew Ritchie, He is a diferent type of artist, that is why he is considered modern artist. Altough the final final work isnt made by him but he creates all this type of illusions that recreates people's eye, making a good attention getter. all the type of drawings that leads him create a unique piece, like the one he made, and later built to show the center of something, and later, the desgins in the wall.

I really like the way Arturo Herrara compiled his art. He basically used any scrap piece of paper and cut shapes from them and made an interesting collage out of it. I also like the fact that he was able to make art in a cheap way...he didn't have to spend tons of money on art supplies, he used whatever he could find. Also when he submerged the film into water and then printed it out i thought was very interesting how the water turned the film into a work of art. I would have never thought that it would look like art when it was done.

Art has changed throughout the years i gotta say. Matthew Ritchie does a great job at demonstrating that. He uses evrything to create a bunch of lines which is why i think he isnt much of an artist just someone that can use others peoples talents mixed with some of his own and a computer. What ever happened to taking the time to creating something on your own? Kinda like a someone asking, "hey how many times does 6 go into 3414?, let me just pull out this handy calculator so it can tell me that the answer is 569". Now Arturo Herrara, he's pretty creative, placing a bunch of paper and fiber together to make a cool looking images? Now thats art! (sarcasm) Who cares if he can't make a straight line?

ps i love modern art
